The President of Turkmenistan received the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Republic of Seychelles
On April 29, 2026, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Republic of Seychelles, Barry Faure, who arrived in our country on a visit.
Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome, the guest noted his country's keen interest in establishing multifaceted relations with dynamically developing Turkmenistan. Taking the opportunity, Barry Faure conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from the President of the Republic of Seychelles, Patrick Herminie, to the head of state.
Thanking for the kind words, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov reciprocated his best wishes to the leader of the friendly state and expressed confidence that the current visit will mark an important stage in expanding bilateral relations and will provide impetus for new areas of long-term cooperation.
As noted during the meeting, neutral Turkmenistan maintains friendly relations with countries around the world, relying on its status of permanent neutrality, three times recognized by the United Nations General Assembly. The principles of sustainable development, peace, and mutual trust form the foundation of both countries' foreign policies.
The parties placed particular emphasis on cooperation within reputable international organizations, primarily the United Nations. In this regard, the head of state expressed gratitude to the Republic of Seychelles for its support of Turkmenistan's creative initiatives and co-authorship of important UN General Assembly resolutions.
The meeting also discussed the possibility of establishing trade and economic ties between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Seychelles. In this context, the head of state emphasized the export potential of the national economy, naming the fuel and energy sector, chemical and textile industries, and agriculture among promising areas of cooperation.
To strengthen bilateral cooperation, the President of Turkmenistan invited the Seychelles to actively participate in exhibitions and international conferences held in our country.
Another topic of discussion was the development of humanitarian ties, particularly cooperation in tourism. Noting the significant opportunities for exchanging experiences in this area and developing mutual tourism in the future, the head of state confirmed our country's readiness to consider specific proposals from the Seychelles side for establishing a mutually beneficial partnership.
At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Barry Faure, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Republic of Seychelles, exchanged best wishes and expressed confidence in the further strengthening of friendly ties between the two countries.
