Meeting between the President of Turkmenistan and the President of the Republic of Tajikistan

On October 8, 2026, President Serdar Berdimuhamedow met with the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, in the "Awaza" National Tourist Zone. President Rahmon had arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in major international events.

Warmly welcoming the distinguished guest, the Head of Turkmenistan expressed his gratitude to the Tajik leader for accepting the invitation to visit Turkmenistan to participate in the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the Republic of Azerbaijan and the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State. President Serdar Berdimuhamedow also emphasized that Turkmenistan highly values the personal attention of the President of Tajikistan to the development of regional cooperation.

Thanking for the warm welcome extended on Turkmen soil, the Head of Tajikistan noted the significance of the international events in the "Awaza" National Tourist Zone in the context of defining priority vectors for mutually beneficial cooperation between the countries of the region and the progressive development of the full spectrum of interstate relations. Congratulating President Serdar Berdimuhamedow on the successful hosting of the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, President Emomali Rahmon, taking this opportunity, also conveyed heartfelt greetings to the Hero-Arkadag.

The Head of State noted the dynamic nature of Turkmen-Tajik cooperation and the regular political dialogue between the two countries. Emphasizing that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to further strengthening political interaction, President Serdar Berdimuhamedow expressed confidence that the established relations of trust provide a solid foundation for expanding the bilateral partnership.

“We also highly value the constructive interaction between Turkmenistan and Tajikistan on the international stage, primarily within the framework of the United Nations and other international structures, and look forward to continuing the traditions of mutual support and coordination of positions on pressing issues of the international and regional agenda,” said the Head of State. In this context, the Turkmen side's interest in expanding trade and economic cooperation, consistently increasing the volume of mutual trade, and strengthening business contacts between our countries was reaffirmed.

Special attention is also paid to the development of partnership in the transport and transit sector. Among the important tasks highlighted are the further expansion of transport links and the effective utilization of the transit potential of both countries. Cooperation in the energy sector also stands as a promising direction.

At the same time, President Serdar Berdimuhamedow noted that cultural and humanitarian ties, based on the historical and cultural proximity of the two nations, form an integral component of Turkmen-Tajik interaction. In this regard, Turkmenistan's interest in activating contacts in the fields of culture, education, science, and sports, as well as in expanding humanitarian exchanges, was emphasized.

In conclusion of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedow and President Emomali Rahmon reaffirmed the readiness of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Tajikistan to further deepen multifaceted interstate relations, wishing the peoples of the two friendly countries peace, well-being, and prosperity.
